NEWS : PEB appoints several new board members

KUALA LUMPUR: Main market-listed Pimpinan Ehsan Bhd (PEB) has announced new appointments to the board as part of its transformation strategy.

Jonathan Law, who was previously the non-independent non-executive director has been redesignated as the interim non-independent non-executive chairman of PEB effective 21 April 2021, succeeding Tan Sri Rozali Ismail who has stepped down earlier.

“I am excited to be spearheading the transformation of the company together with my fellow Board members and the management team.

“It is an interesting time for us as we march forward to expand our footprints in the fast-growing renewable energy sector.

“On the same note, we would like to thank the former board, which was led by Rozali for the valuable contributions over the years,” Jonathan said in a statement today.

Jonathan further said that the company’s immediate focus now is to complete the due diligence with regards to the acquisition of reNIKOLA group of companies.

“Based on current timeline, we are looking forward to signing the definitive agreement with the vendors within the next 2 months,” Jonathan said.

Additionally, Datuk Simon Yew Soon Keong has been appointed as the non-independent non-executive director, with Datuk Jamelah Jamaluddin and Yasmin Rasyid joining the board as independent non-executive directors.

Simon has over 40 years of experience in the manufacturing of precision and engineered components for the energy and aerospace industries.

He co-founded and was the chief executive officer of UPECA Engineering Group, which is the leading manufacturer in Malaysia and South East Asia until the divestment of his interest to Senior PLC UK in 2013.

Jamelah is currently the executive chairman of Mudharib Partners Sdn Bhd.
She also sits on the board of Malaysia Productivity Corporation Bhd, and is a council member of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA).

She was appointed as the managing director of Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Labuan Bhd from March 2013 to September 2013 and later as chief executive officer of the firm from February 2010 to March 2013.

She had also served as the managing director of RHB Islamic Bank Bhd from August 2007 to January 2010.

Yasmin holds a Master in Biotechnology and a PhD in Sustainability.

She has 20 years of experience and knowledge in environmental management, community development, strategic partnerships for sustainability and social responsibility in Malaysia.

Today, Yasmin works for Lendlease to build sustainable precincts and to implement strategies that contribute high social impact and values to communities, while support and implement decarbonization efforts.
Her experience and knowledge in the approach of sustainability will be a great asset to the PEB’s aspiration in the environment, social and governance (ESG) aspect.
